ECT vs Stumpers

Millennium Cricket League 2019 Division A game:

ECT vs Stumpers

It was a rainy Saturday morning with dark clouds hovering all over the place.  Initially it looked like the game between ECT and Stumpers was going to get rained out as it had rained overnight but both teams decided to give it a go.  The rain finally stopped around the game time and both team decided to play 35 overs a side game.  The game was being played on astro turf at Naaman Williams which helped as playing on a matting wicket would not be possible.

Abdullah Syed and Farrukh Ali started for ECT and Jatish Patel started for Stumpers and as usual Jatish got an early breakthrough for his team and sent Farrukh packing in the first over.  The captain Umair Mir joined Abdullah and started to rebuilt the inning.  Abdullah in his usual mode started to spank the bowlers and quickly raced to his fifty with the help of 6 sixes but in a running mix up he got run out.  Jessy Singh came at two down but Umair lost his wicket soon after.  In came, the Man of the Match Zahib Tariq, he build up his inning cautiously but as the game moved on he started to percolate as well.  He showed his potential to the max as his inning contained straight drive, cuts, pulls, flicks and slog sweeps.   He played every shot in the book to score his 77 on only 57 balls.  Adnan Naseem added 42 runs in the slog overs with the help of 3 sixes.  At the end of the day, ECT scored 243 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 35 overs.
Stumpers started there inning with a slow methodical approach as they wanted to see off Jessy opening spell but in doing so they neither could keep up with the run-rate or keep the wickets in hands as Jessy finished up with 4 for 7 in 7 overs.  The only player who showed some intent was Arpit Gandhi who tonked both Raseed Khan and Saroosh Nadeem for couple of sixes but got out by a brilliant diving catch by Zahib at the boundary line.

ECT won the game by 105 runs runs as Stumpers could only muster 138 runs in there allocated 35 overs.
